The We Could Be So Happy + VIP Remixes EP is the first proper solo release from Anne-Lise in over a decade. Anne-Lise wrote, performed, recorded, produced and mastered the release on her own. It comes as a result of a number of dead end collaborations from her time in Sydney. She now lives in northern New South Wales and the country air has restored her soul and given her want to produce her own solo music again.

Anne-Lise speaks in her Australian accent, “What do you want? Do you want this?”. The verse begins with an intimate vocal over a sparse wobbling bass line. The chorus is drenched in vocal harmonies and a wall of Moog Grandmother synth.

More About This Release

‘We Could Be So Happy’ is a dance pop song with hints of dubstep and trap, written, performed, produced and recorded by Anne-Lise. Speaking in her Australian accent, Anne-Lise asks her out of reach object of desire, “What do you want? Do you want this?”. The verse begins with an intimate lead vocal, sung over a sparse wobbling bass line and drum rhythm. The chorus by contrast is drenched with dreamy vocal harmony layers and a heavy wall of synth sounds from Anne-Lise’s Moog Grandmother, evoking magical thinking. ‘We Could Be So Happy’ is a tale of limerence, a coping strategy of fantasy love, from one who suffered long term childhood abuse and emotional neglect.

‘We Could Be So Happy’ is accompanied in this release by three variation in production ‘VIP’ remixes.
